In the 2024 final, Smriti Mandhana-led RCB clinched its maiden WPL title with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over DC. Sophie Molineux was named Player of the Match for her decisive three-wicket burst that completely shifted the momentum in RCB’s favor.
How the Match Unfolded
After DC chose to bat, openers Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning provided a strong start with a 64-run partnership. However, Molineux turned the game on its head in the eighth over, dismissing Shafali before removing Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey on consecutive balls. DC never recovered, getting bowled out for 113 in 18.3 overs as RCB’s spinners dominated. In the chase, Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Devine all scored over 30 to comfortably guide RCB to the title, leaving DC as runner-up for the second consecutive season.
